Benefits of Maple tree water

If seeing maple in this recipe piqued your interest then I’m sure seeing maple tree water on the shelves of your local health food store intrigues you too.  You might be wondering what it’s all about. Is it just water with maple syrup? What are the benefits; aside from being Bonhomme Carnaval (it’s a Canadian thing) approved and making your pancakes taste oh-so delicious?

Maple tree water is what you get when you tap a maple tree. Maple tree water is harvested in the spring and then most commonly boiled down and concentrated into your top-top favorite, maple syrup. Before being concentrated it has a slightly sweet taste; just a hint of maple. Since maple water is less concentrated than maple syrup it has less sugar, but may also have less of the vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B2 (riboflavin) we love maple syrup for. For your daily hydration needs I recommend straight up water. If you want to try this trend (and it works with your diet) I say go for it. Better yet try it in a smoothie like this one. If you don’t have maple water don’t worry; you can make this smoothie with good ‘ol maple syrup and water.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp gluten-free oats
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter

Preparation

  • Blend all ingredients.
