An exciting and challenging position exists as a Strategic Account Manager, Amazon at Vega. Reporting to the eCommerce Director, this position will be responsible for growing Vega’s business on Amazon US and Amazon Canada, including all parts of the Amazon business such as Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, Pantry, and Amazon Go. This role will be equally marketing and sales focused, and ideal for those who are keen to continually learn about this quickly evolving space. The ideal candidate will be an Amazon expert with 7-10 years of strategic account management experience, along with an eye for promotional and trade-spend analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all sales & marketing elements of the Amazon portfolio: Amazon US (including .com, Amazon Fresh, Pantry, Amazon Go, etc), Amazon Canada and Amazon Advertising, to meet/exceed assigned forecast targets
  • Accurately forecast sales in units and dollars; provide monthly updates to all relevant stakeholders including Sales Planning & Strategy, Financial Planning and Operations
  • Effectively manage tradespend budgets to achieve sales targets without overspending
  • Create and execute promotions based on ROI, historical performance, and consumption data
  • Input promotions within trade tool software – all agreements, projected and actual spend, etc
  • Develop and execute joint-business plans that align with corporate and customer specific goals and objectives
  • Research and advocate for products, formats, packs, pricing needed for success on Amazon – be the champion for the channel
  • Define and implement Go to Market strategy with cross functional teams (marketing, supply chain, IT, Sales)
  • Understand impact and importance of marketplace pricing & monitor against recommended pricing guidelines
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual business reviews by analyzing and interpreting sales and marketing data to provide key insights and opportunities to grow the business
  • Identify new ecommerce trends and opportunities for business growth and implement action plans
  • Develop short and long term strategy for the Amazon business
  • Lead and negotiate annual agreements with customers
  • Manage communication between warehouse, inventory, forecasting and purchasing departments to continually improve Amazon Operations Scorecard, reduce compliance, reduce operations costs and find efficiencies
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Trade Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing
  • Continually work on strategies and tactics to improve search rankings, advertising performance, traffic and conversion
  • Manage content of Amazon sites, collaborate with internal teams on sales, promotions, traffic and conversions
  • Manage Amazon advertising strategy with Digital Marketing specialist – search & display advertising

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of strategic account management experience
  • Expert level of selling on Amazon (Seller Central/ Vendor Central) or other key marketplace customers with extensive knowledge of best practices, strategies and tools
  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering strong sales results and performance versus goals
  • Exceptional leadership skills to manage team members, agencies and cross functional teams
  • Strong communication skills and team attitude required in order to advocate for online needs and understand impact of Amazon in total Vega portfolio – must work collaboratively with all stakeholders to help grow the entire Vega business
  • Highly experienced with pay-per-click advertising, SEO, Display Advertising, particularly within Amazon
  • Experience working with agencies and managing both tradespend and marketing budgets
  • Entrepreneurial attitude required to identify and action business development opportunities
  • Strong analytical and financial skills required, including experience with syndicated data, financial analyses, P&L’s, etc
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity, and ability to solve problems a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Negotiation and effective communication skills are critical
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to travel within US & Canada as required
