An exciting and challenging position exists as a Sales Strategy Manager, North America at Vega. Reporting to the Director, Sales Planning & Strategy you will play a key role in the development and execution of Vega’s Strategic Growth Plan. As a key member of the Sales Planning and Strategy Team, you will be accountable for leading and developing specific trade strategies and driving the sales planning process with both internal and external stakeholders. As a collaborative business partner, you will work cross-functionally with Finance, Business Intelligence, Marketing and Sales on product development, channel optimization, trade strategies and pricing to ensure the sales team is armed to execute with excellence. As a strong sales business leader, you will have a solid understanding of trade strategies, forecasting and budgeting, and S&OP in shipments and consumption data. You also have the ability and desire to build out annual customer joint business plans using foreword thinking strategies derived from multiple stories of data.

This position is located at Vega’s HQ in Burnaby, BC.  Remote candidates within Canada will be considered. During the exceptional circumstances due to COVID-19, we are currently working virtually while our office remains open for access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop trade investment strategies to drive maximum achievement of sales, profit and ROI for the individual’s portfolio of product
  • Work closely with marketing to develop and execute plans consistent with long-range strategic goals
  • Collaborate with customer teams participating in growth-oriented annual business planning and attends customer meetings as required
  • Assist in the development of sales plans for new product and line extensions
  • Manage the necessary tactical revisions to plan to ensure that business objectives are met
  • Work on trade investment and promotions to achieve company objectives; leads post evaluation frame work to optimize promotional strategy
  • Provide guidance on the Trade Tool implementation and best practices
  • Provide leadership and best in class sales reporting mechanisms and systems to ensure trade spending effectiveness
  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure that promotional funds as well as strategies and objectives are integrated into the field release and are consistent across business units
  • Partner with Sales to build out annual customer joint business plans
  • Forecasting and Budgeting
  • Maintain a schedule of field contacts to ensure up-to-date knowledge of changes in customer operating philosophy as well as an understanding of field planning capabilities and needs
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external teams

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Business, Management, Sales or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive Sales Strategy experience within the CPG industry
  • A strategic thinker with experience calling on large CPG accounts such as Target, Walmart, Loblaws and Costco; Natural Channel experience with Whole Foods Market an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with experience analyzing data from IRI, Nielsen and other sources such as Spins
  • Ability to analyze and combine multiple stories of consumption data into a joint and commercial business plans
  • A natural leader with desire and passion for negotiating and influencing others throughout all levels of the organization
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, vendors and external agencies
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting (P&L Development), channel strategy, price/promo/trade rate development and product development
  • Performance driven with desire to take on a high level of responsibility and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven success at fostering teamwork and team development
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with the ability work in high-performance environment, while engaging and contributing in a larger multi-national organization
  • Desire and ability to drive change and process improvements
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skill with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint
  • 5-10% travel is required (following all COVID safety rules and guidelines)
